Wall
Aptly named, wall cabinets are cabinets which connect to your walls. These cabinets typically hang around 4 feet off the ground, and are typically positioned over countertops. Cabinets such as these are terrific for the storage of cups, plates, and other types of food implements.
Tall
Tall cabinets are cabinets which possess more height than they do width. These cabinets are great for those who are avid cooks and those who have a great deal of food to store. Because of their enormous size, tall cabinets are the ultimate storage cabinets. They typically measure from 80 to 100 inches in height.
Types of Cabinet Materials:
Cabinets are made out of a bevy of different materials, with each different material offering something different in the ways of durability and functionality. Read on to decide which material best fits your purposes.
Hardwood
Hardwood is most typically used on the frames and drawer-fronts of cabinets. Because of its hardness, it has a terrific ability to withstand physical trauma. While it’s too heavy and too expensive to use over the span of an entire cabinet, it serves its intended purpose very well.
Laminate
In some cases, laminate can provide a cheaper alternative to hardwood. These cabinets possess the look of hardwood, but are not quite as durable. There are also high-end laminate cabinets available that are made with an ultra-durable and thick laminate over fiberboard. These won’t necessarily save you money, but these high-end laminates will outlast the cheaper version as well as hardwood cabinets.
If used in a damp environment, they will eventually start to peel and crack. However, it will be decades before this starts to occur.
Fiberboard
The primary perk of fiberboard cabinets is their aesthetic. They aren’t quite as durable as laminate cabinets, but are typically much cheaper.
It should be noted that these are far from luxury cabinets. However, they will get the job done. In essence, fiberboard cabinets make a great choice for those who seek nice aesthetics on a budget.
