As times passes, styles slowly become stale. This is true of everything, from cars, to homes, to clothes, to rooms. Your bathroom is no exception to this rule.
At some point, a style change will need to be made in your bathroom. This will require a remodeling project wherein the walls, ceilings, and floors need to be altered.
Are you thinking about remodeling your bathroom right now? Are you trying to find the right flooring material for your bathroom? If so, you’re in the right place. Let’s discuss the pros and cons of the different bathroom flooring materials, so that you can make an educated decision.
Porcelain
Perhaps the best bathroom flooring material on the planet is porcelain. Porcelain takes all of the good aspects of other materials and combines them. Not only is it affordable and attractive, but resistant to water as well.
The only downsides to porcelain are that it can be cold, and it can be slippery. However, with the use of rugs and towels, you can essentially negate these problems.
Vinyl
Vinyl is also a popular bathroom flooring material. This is so for a number of reasons, with the two primary reasons being its price and its variety. Vinyl flooring is not only affordable, but available in a number of different colors as well. Not to mention, it’s exceedingly easy to install.
The primary downside to vinyl flooring is that it isn’t the “real thing”. In addition, it tends to discolor over time. This is particularly true if you’re making use of light-colored vinyl. White and light gray vinyl might eventually take on a bit of a yellow tint.
LVT or Luxury Vinyl Tile
This product combines the affordability of vinyl, while helping it resemble real tile more effectively. It can be laid with adhesive, glue or click together tiles. The downside is that it has seams which can allow water damage.
Stone
To put it simply: stone is a luxury flooring material. Used almost exclusively for its aesthetic, it is easily the most expensive bathroom flooring material on the market. It does, however, provide an elegant and unique style that you can’t get with any other type of flooring.
There are a few downsides to stone. It is porous, which makes it prone to water damage. Stone tile must be sealed properly, which adds to the cost.
